A message from the Recruitment Chair:

Gentlemen,

If you are interested in joining a Fraternity, it is likely that you have many questions: What is a Fraternity? What does being in a Fraternity mean? What will Fraternity membership do for me? What will be expected from me in a Fraternity? What makes Lambda Chi Alpha a good fit for me? Is this the right choice for my future? How do I join? My name is Aidan Pereira and I am Lambda Chi Alpha’s Recruitment Chair. It is my job to help answer these questions. I joined Lambda Chi in Fall of 2009, and I already know that it was one of the best decisions of my life.

A Fraternity is, in essence, brotherhood. Fraternity life gives you the opportunity to gain responsibility and personal growth while developing yourself as a leader, and gaining lifelong friendships. People claim that being in a Fraternity means buying your friends, or that it is simply more rules without any benefit. From personal experience, I have learned that there is nothing father from the truth. I invite you to come meet the men of Lambda Chi, learn about our activities, and explore the possibilities for your future in the Fraternity, and make your own judgements as to the meaning of Fraternity.

Additionally, being a Brother provides you with a lifetime of memories and experiences, and the chance to develop a strong bond with your fellow members. After graduation, Fraternities can provide you with a multitude of career opportunities, and a network of professionals to assist you in your future. Lambda Chi Alpha, as one of the largest general men’s Fraternities in North America, with over 250,000 initiated members from over 300 college campuses, offers a large range social and professional opportunities.

By and large, you get out of the Fraternity what you put into it. Those who commit to any of the wide array of leadership roles available, participate in chapter-wide events, and spend personal time getting to know their Brothers, have a much more rewarding experience. However, there are a few basic expectations:

1) attendance of weekly Chapter meetings on Sundays,

2) meeting the academic and financial commitments of the Fraternity,

3) participation in the Fraternity’s major social, philanthropic and brotherhood activities, and

4) adherence to the standards of conduct upheld by the men of Lambda Chi Alpha.

The seven core values of Lambda Chi Alpha are: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Service & Stewardship, Honor, Integrity, and Personal courage; every member strives to live by these principles.

Finally, Lambda Chi is unique in its’ abolishment of Hazing and Pledgeship. At no point do we refer to our new members as Pledges; rather, they are Associate Members. We do not believe in the belittling of any man, for any reason. This stands in agreement with our motto of Vir Quisque Vir, Latin for “Every Man a Man”. I have learned through both Rush and Associate Membership that the men of Lambda Chi are courageous, genuine and a group of gentlemen that any man would be proud to call both their brother and friend.

If you were interested in joining this brotherhood, would like to come out to our events, or simply wish to learn more, like the Facebook fan page titled Lambda Chi Alpha UWO and feel free to contact me.
